‘Fiction’ was the title of an exhibition of drawings at the Zemicon Gallery in Barbados in 2007. The exhibition and its catalogue served as an introduction to a project that involved the mapping of a fictional ‘neighbourhood space’ and the characters that inhabit it. The narratives are driven or generated by interactions between characters and by each characters relationship with their environment. The characters themselves are derived from personal and family histories, Barbadian folk culture and global popular culture.

Little Girl Blue is silent and plagued by a relentless cloud.

The Buisnessman leaves commerce behind and preaches to Mongooses.

Starman attempts to build a “wigwam to wind-up the moon.”

The Couple share the same features, one pushes, one pulls.

Miss Williams has Conrad in her belly.

The Dogs watch everything.

Role-play is an important facet of the work, as my own features become parts of each characters image. This is an ongoing project that will continue in various media.
